Q1. WHEN CAN I BEGIN?
You can join the classes on any Monday - there's no need to wait for the beginning of a quarter. Please make an appointment for a Placement Test on the week before your start date. The cost of the Placement Test is included in your Registration Fee. The Placement Test will determine your English level.
Q2. WHAT KINDS OF PROGRAMS DOES CSL OFFER?
We have a variety of programs. Most students take the General Intensive English Program, which is designed to prepare them to enroll in an American college or university, work as a professional in the U.S., or to develop English skills for other purposes. We also offer both group and private English for Business courses.

Q3. DOES CENTURY SCHOOL OF LANGUAGES ISSUE AN I-20?
Yes, The I-20 is the official application for an F-1 Student Visa for International Students. You must complete Century School's attached Intensive English Program (I-20) Application Form.
Q4. HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO ATTEND CENTURY SCHOOL OF LANGUAGES?
I-20 students must enroll in CSL for a minimum of 3 months (12 weeks). Our Student Advisors will recommend a realistic length of study for each student’s desired level of English proficiency.
Q5. WHAT DOCUMENTS MUST I GIVE TO CENTURY SCHOOL WHEN I APPLY FOR THE F-1 VISA?
A) Century School of Languages APPLICATION FORM Complete all the sections.
B) CURRENT FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The financial statement shows the amount of money available to you for studying and living costs. It must show that you are able to support yourself for your entire stay in the United States. Century School will return your financial statement to you.
1) If you are in the United States and your sponsor is a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, please submit an I-134 (Affidavit of Support) to us.
2) If you are in another country, please submit a current letter from your (or your family's or sponsor's) bank. The letter must show the amount available, in English and in U.S. Dollars. More information about financial statement.
C) APPLICATION FEE:The total amount due when you apply for the Form I-20 is $100, This amount includes the Application fee (non-refundable) for processing and school registration.
Q6. DO YOU OFFER THE TOEFL TEST?
CSL offers the Institutional TOEFL once a month. It is open to CSL students only. Students must sign up as soon as possible for this test, as space is limited.
We administer the ITP TOEFL TEST.
Q7. WHAT IS THE CLASS SCHEDULE?
Classes are Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There are one to three ten-minute breaks each day. Students meet for a total of 20 hours of intensive English instruction per week. The Language Lab is open from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
Q8. HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE IN THE CLASSES?
Classes are small to provide maximum attention to the student. The average class has six students and is limited to twelve.
Q9 .ARE CLASSES TAUGHT IN ENGLISH ONLY OR ARE CLASSES BLINGUAL?
CSL offers an Intensive ENGLISH ONLY Program that ensures the student will advance rapidly.
Q10. IF I AM ALREADY IN THE UNITED STATES ON AN F-1 VISA, CAN I TRANSFER TO CSL?
Yes. If you have been a full-time student in good standing at your previous school, you may transfer to Century School easily. The I-20 form must be mailed to us or brought into our office along with a financial statement and application fee. (Please complete the Century School of Languages Application Form)
Q11. HOW ABOUT AIRPORT TRANSFER SERVICE?
CSL offers both airport pick-up and drop-off services. We suggest that students unfamiliar with the United States use our service upon arrival. Getting back to the airport at the end of your stay is quite easy, and we'll help you arrange a low-cost Shuttle.
Q12. WHERE DO YOUR STUDENTS LIVE?
CSL works with a network of hosts around the area. In addition, many of our students look for rooms to rent. These rooms are advertised on the Internet and in local newspapers.
Q13. DO YOUR STUDENTS RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE AT THE END OF THE PROGRAM?
At the completion of the student's individual course, all CSL students receive a Certificate of Achievement.
Q14. DOES THE SCHOOL ARRANGE ACTIVITIES FOR THE STUDENTS?
CSL offers trips to areas beyond the Bay Area, Lake Tahoe, and Yosemite. In addition, we offer weekly movies, a weekly after school sports club, a monthly trip to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and monthly parties.
Q15. IS THE SCHOOL CLOSED DURING THE SUMMER? WINTER?
CSL is open throughout the year. We close for national holidays
for example, July 4th and Thanksgiving. We are also closed during the period between Christmas and New Year's Day. Please refer to the CSL Calendar.
